THE NEIGHBORHOOD

UCSF is located in a residential neighborhood, close to the center of San Francisco and to Golden Gate Park (Maps and Directions). The campus community enjoys the social and cultural advantages of a cosmopolitan, metropolitan area as well as easy access to beaches, redwood forests, and mountains. Available activities range from outdoor recreation (hiking, mountain biking, camping, surfing, skiing) to top-caliber museums and performing arts (theater, opera, symphony, dance) to a new major-league baseball park.
