FINANCIAL
AID
All Ph.D. students receive financial support at a standardized
level ($27,000 a year stipend for 2009-10); all fees are paid
by the Program as well ($11,640 a year for the 2009-10
academic year). Estimated non-resident tuition for students who
are not legal residents of California is $14,694 a year in addition
to fees of $11,982. Tuition will be paid for non-California
residents by the Program for U.S. citizens and permanent residents
for the first year only, after which time students are expected
to have established California residency. (International students
cannot establish California residency while on a visa and must
pay nonresident tuition every year they are registered.)
No specific
forms for financial support are required. The Office
of Student Financial Services has additional information about
student loans, work study programs, the cost of living in San
Francisco, and related financial issues.
